Welcome to CircNet 2.0

——an updated database for exploring circular RNA regulatory networks in cancers

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a type of single-stranded RNAs that can form a covalently closed continuous loop acting as a microRNA (miRNA) sponge, interacts with RNA-binding proteins, or encoding proteins. CircRNA plays an important role in the fields of cancer diagnosis and drug development as growing evidence suggest circRNAs have a close relationship to clinical and pathological cancer features. Therefore, circRNA proves to have high potential in becoming novel carcinoma biomarkers. Due to the regulatory role of circRNAs in eukaryotic cells, we proposed the first circRNA database, CircNet, dedicated to providing tissue-specific circRNA expression profiles and circRNA-miRNA-gene regulatory network . Since the publication of CircNet in January 2016, the database has accumulated 200+ research works that have referred to CircNet annotations, mostly emphasizing on exploring regulatory network of circRNAs in a wide array of cancers.
